Three workshops on construction of double-bell heaters are
planned during months of August – October in Ajax,
ON (Toronto area, Canada), Cincinnati, OH, USA and Vancouver Island,
BC Canada. Dates for the workshops are not yet confirmed. Interested people
should contact Alex.
May 10-14, 2010
Alex Chernov will be leading a 5-day complete heater construction workshop
in Flesherton, ON. A double-bell heater with black bake oven will be
constructed for a low-energy house during this workshop. Interested people

Alex Chernov and Norbert Senf led a Bell Heater Construction
and Testing workshop in Caledon, ON. All proceeds were donated
to the MHA rising $2450 for MHA’s technical programs. Report on

Igor Kuznetsov (Russia) and Alex Chernov led a workshop on the System of Free Gas movement at the 13th annual meeting of the MHA in North Caroline, USA. The workshop included presentation of the system and design principles by Igor Kuznetsov and construction of a complete bell heater. Report about the workshop:

Alex Chernov has visited John Fisher, a Swedish bake oven and heater builder, in Goteborg, Sweden to exchange ideas and learn about commercial bread bake oven construction in Sweden. Alex has visited several bakeries and discussed oven construction requirements and preferences with some of the best Swedish Master Bakers.

John Fisher, a Swedish bake oven and heater builder, has visited Alex and participated in finishing up one of STOVEMASTER's projects. Norbert Senf, a president of MHA, has joined Alex and John during the visit.

Alex Chernov designed an outdoor cooking complex for a planned MHA fundraising workshop at White Owl winery, IL. The workshop is postponed by the winery owner till the next year.

Alex Chernov led an experimental pizza-oven workshop at the MHA annual meeting in Wild Acres Resort, North Carolina. A pizza-party with 96 pizzas baked in the oven followed the workshop. Alex Chernov has attended a workshop with Igor Kuznetsov, a famous Russian mason and stove designer in Ekaterinburg, Russia to acquire deeper knowledge of Free Gas Movement System, to study wood-burning boiler technology, and to exchange experience and knowledge with a guest Norwegian stove builder Viggo Ballo (www.steinovn.no).

Alex Chernov led a workshop at the MHA Annual Meeting at the Wild Acres Resort in North Carolina. A short version of a contraflow heater was built under his guidance, fired, tested and then converted to a single-bell heater that was fired and tested as well. Testing was organized by Norbert Senf. Alex Chernov has attended a 5-day workshop with a Czech stove builder Vlad Prilepsky in Prague, Czech Republic to study design of traditional Czech kahelofens, learn construction techniques, discover innovative construction methods and new materials for stove construction.

Alex Chernov has attended a 7-days workshop with the Association of Stove Builders of Eastern Ukraine in Kharkov, Ukraine to study Ukrainian stove building heritage and to learn about traditional designs common in the Eastern Ukraine.
